M.L. Rio – If We Were Villains

Ein sehr atmosphärisches, mitreißendes Buch. Teilweise waren mit die Zeitsprünge ein bisschen zu abrupt aber die Geschichte nimmt einen trotzdem gut mit und liest sich sehr gut.

Ich denke, die Parallelen zu A Secret History lassen sich hier nicht leugnen, vieles wirkt vielleicht auch etwas abgekupfert; nichtsdestotrotz mochte ich diese Umsetzung sehr gerne. Was mich wirklich positiv überrascht hat, war die Verknüpfung von Hauptplot und Shakespeare-Inszenierungen. Setting und Charaktere waren mir an manchen Stellen leider nicht rund genug. Lesenswert und ich denke, es wird auf jeden Fall nochmal ein Re-Read gebe

I think I'm definitely enamored with this book! I loved the characters and their developing dynamics, the plot, everyone's motives! Who was the killer part wasn't much of a mystery, or at least I could guess early on, but I also don't think what makes this book great the mystery element. It is how well the Shakespearean elements and the essence of tragedy are blended with the rest of the story and how you can relate to all of the characters at least a little bit.
